Of course, everyone has been talking about the great Chrome OS that is brewing up in the Google Labs at the moment. Google has been releasing videos to show us their advancements and additions to the operating system. Today was the release for the source codes for developers to take a shot in the assistance in building the open source environment that is to be the new Linux competitor. The release of the official Chrome OS will be next year according to Google, but as all of us know they are usually a little early. With developers getting a years head start on building software, widgets, and security for the system; there should be plenty of great applications for us to use when it hits the debut download screen. After seeing the video of what the, Chrome OS, UI is to look like as of right now. It is very obvious that there are going to be so many widgets that it might drown your screen. It almost has a resemblence to pop ups that slowly come up from the corners of your screen. The screens popping up from every which direction or place, looks to be very confusing, and almost child like. Understanding that the concept behind the platform is to be a speed increasing operating system, people will have to get past all the simplicity and boringness of the look. Chrome will definately not be a Geek friendly environment. Most technology enthusiasts like to have lots of options, flashy desktops, and screens full of downloaded material. The look of Chromium so far shows us that your going to be at a loss when it comes to desktop space and easy clicking access to things on your screen. But, it is still early things may change, and we may not be seeing all that there is at this point. Google has only distributed what they want us to see of course.
