People are just going crazy over the HTC phones with the Android Platform Version 2.0 on them. Although, people are wondering whether there is a update in the future for the phones that have the 1.6 version. There has been lots of wishy washy information on this subject coming from HTC. As you can see from the email that I received from HTC that there is maybe some hope on the fore front. Here read the email for yourself and make your own assumptions.
"Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC America Technical Support via E-Mail with your inquiry about the DROID ERIS by HTC getting the Éclair update. My name is A.J. and I will be happy to assist you today.
First, let me apologize for the extreme delay in response to your original inquiry. HTC has recently released a plethora of new devices in several markets as well as software updates for several of our current models. The response to these devices and OS updates has been overwhelming but we are working diligently to provide the best support possible for our customers. Thank you for your patience.
I understand that it is important you receive all the information about your device. Currently, our developers have to work with the carriers to determine when and if a ROM upgrade will be available for any of their branded models. Unfortunately, I do not have any information on if the DROID ERIS by HTC will receive the Éclair update, as it is dependant upon Verizon requesting it. Since there is no update available how to update will be provided has not been announced. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you."
