Everyone knows that if you are a true techno geek, like coding, or even just like free stuff, then Ubuntu is for you. Ubuntu 9.1 has not let the Linux name down in this newest version. Giving everyone exactly what they come to Linux for in the first place.

As with all the Linux system it becomes a game for me as soon as I load it up for the first time. The customization marathon begins at the first login screen. I like to customize my systems for my exact needs, and some fluffy fun applications of course! But, Linux is the best when it comes to this. I don’t know of any one part of Linux that is not able to be touched. They make it so easy to transform your desktop into a real workspace and a piece of artwork.
My favorite part is the splitting of the screens and multiple desktop functions. If you know me then it does not come to a surprise about my disorganization and unimaginable methods of placements. Windows flying in every direction with tons of things open at any given time. The ability to throw your different windows onto separate desktops makes it easier for me to keep track of what I am working on, and not start to wonder onto other things. This also helps you multitask on several projects at once by flipping through your workspaces.
The security of course is of top notch and incomparability to any other system. You can truly feel safe while you browse around using this system. It being low key and not a severe target for hackers, keeps you all warm and fuzzy inside. The speed seems to be untouchable and it doesn’t hurt that your screen rarely freezes up on you while you are working with lots of things at once. This is only capable due to the condensed structure of its size and coding. Keeping the OS small in size allows the computer to read off the memory or web faster giving you top speeds. (Maybe this is where they got the idea from for Google Chrome..hmmm).

Linux has made Ubuntu 9.1 a great server edition and netbook remix to make sure that every kind of system will have something specifically for it. The new cloud capability will also blow your mind! To have the ability at your fingertips to store, share, and sync your date/information will make you feel powerful when you go to sleep at night. The additions to the application lists at boot up are flattering. There are so many options for software that codes, edits, and manipulates documents for you that you will not be able to stop gawking at the screen for the first 2 hours after install. Keep up the good work Linux and can’t wait for the next version to hit the download list and not the price gouging retail store shelves.

There's no such thing as Ubuntu 9.1. There's Ubuntu 9.10. Which means "October 2009". There was no "January 2009" edition.

And, also when there is a 0 on the end of any decimal i drop it off. Sorry if you don't like it, but that's just the way I do it.

Randi,

Version numbers aren't decimals. Otherwise, what would version 2.5.3 mean?

it would mean 2.5.3 due to no 0 on the end. if it were 2.5.30 then i would write it as 2.5.3
