As I downloaded the new version of Windows 7, I was pondering on what could be so different? Will it finally make the stamp of approval with all the more tech savy individuals? Or will it be another version of Windows prompting me with an error every 10 minutes of usage. I quickly realized that the new Operating System from Microsoft was finally gaining some credibility within the world of technology. Windows has always based itself upon being ease of usage for computer beginners.
Windows has always seemed to worry more about making things easier to get to, and not thinking about the codes that they are shooting out. With this quickness to make things easier windows has overlooked several things in the past that hindered the Operating System from growing any further. Slowly, little by little, losing some of their fan base to Mac and Linux.
Apple and Linux have always prided themselves on the customizable features, speed, and stability within the systems. I don’t think that they highly underestimated the new Windows system, due to past performances. Windows seemed to, “hit the nail on the head” with this one. They have increased the speed of the system tremendously, allowed it to still perform well on older systems (unlike Vista), and gave the system extras within the bundle. Software that normally would have been charged to obtain from Microsoft and given on the Linux/Apple systems were included this time around.
One of the major changes that I have really grown to love is the Snippet software allowing you to take a screen shot of your PC with just a few clicks, a cd/dvd burning software actually deemed usable and worthy, also the tab previews make it easier to see what you are doing. Yes, I know, most of these things are also on Linux/Apples, but for Windows this was a major leap into the future. They seemed to be hiding all their newest technologies, and putting them off just for this version to come out.
As for me, I still think that there is a huge difference between who will use what system. The more hands on technical community will still cling onto their Snow Leopards and Ubuntu 9.1, but they will be more likely to set themselves up with a dual boot to have the ability to go on over to the dark side every once in a while with Windows 7.
